Chaminade University and the Hawai`i Vocal Arts Ensemble are pleased to present a free concert in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday, January 15, 2006 at the Mystical Rose Oratory (the Chapel) at Chaminade University. Joining the Ensemble will be the University of Illinois at Champagne Concert Choir. A wide variety of music including gospel, spirituals, and choral music will be performed.
Now in its fourteenth season, the Hawai’i Vocal Arts Ensemble directed by Tim Carney is known for its tonal beauty and imaginative programming. The Ensemble is dedicated to bringing professional-level performances of significant choral repertoire to as wide an audience as possible. Hawai’i Vocal Arts Ensemble is pleased to serve as chorus-in-residence at Chaminade University of Honolulu.
The Concert Choir of The University of Illinois at Champagne is a mixed-chorus under the direction of Chester L. Alwes. Consisting of approximately 40 - 50 highly advanced undergraduate students performing a diverse regimen of accompanied and a cappella literature, the Concert Choir The choir makes semi-annual tours within the United States.
There are no advance tickets for this free concert and those planning to attend are encouraged to come early as seating is limited.
