Leeta Wolfblack (Northern Cheyenne and Hunkpapa Sioux) was born in Crow Agency, Montana and raised on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation until she left in 1974. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and recently changed her career to write full time. Her first book, The Adventures of Boy Hunter: Ishy is the beginning of a series of stories about a 6 year old Northern Plains boy named Boy Hunter. Some of his adventures are humorous; some are moral tales. The concept developed by Leeta in these stories is one of bridging the gap between cultures. Leeta's goal is to draw parallels between historical and present day settings and to bridge the gap between cultures and time. After all, children, no matter what color, experience the joy of childhood in the same way, be it now or then. Join us in welcoming this warm and witty children's author to Native Winds!
