Sherry Norfolk has been a professional storyteller since 1981, having performed in libraries, schools, museums and festivals all over the United States. A former librarian and teacher, Sherry uses storytelling as an affective means of motivating children to read. Her storytelling style is full of rhythm and motion, multiple voices and provides opportunities for audience participation. Her dedication and interest in children’s literacy have been recognized with national awards from organizations like the American Library Association and the Association for Library Services to Children.
This free 45-minutes program is sponsored by Hawaiian Telcom, through a grant to the Friends of the Library of Hawaii, and the University of Hawaii Outreach College, through grants form the National Endowment for the Arts and the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
