Retired Hawai'i State Judge Milks shares stories and insights from her ground-breaking career in law and the judiciary system. After her graduation from UHM in the '60s, Milks was the first Asian woman to attend Georgetown Law Center and one of its few female law students. She tried Hawai'i's first murder-for-hire case as a deputy public defender in the '70s. In 1980 she became the first Asian woman appointed to the Hawai'i State Judiciary, serving until 2004. Since then she has remained active as a teacher, mediator/arbitrator, and consultant. |
