For the first time ever, the KIDS FIRST! Film Festival comes to Hawaii! A project of the Coalition for Quality Childrens Media, KIDS FIRST! films are free of gratuitous violence; race, gender, or religious bias; and condescension towards kids. Age-appropriate groupings of classic, independent, short and sneak preview films entertain through a balance of animation and live action, plus varied themes from different cultures. Tweens Feature Film, ages 10+, TRT: 96 minutes. Eye of the Dolphin (PG-13) After a very tough year, 14-year-old Alyssa moves to the Bahamas to live with her long-lost father, a dolphin researcher. Alyssa discovers a skill for communicating with dolphins, and when a threat to close down her fathers research station increases, Alyssa calls on her dolphin friend for help. Features Oscar-nominated Katharine Ross; International Family Film Festival winner for Best Drama and Best Child Actor. A University of Hawaii at Manoa Centennial Celebration event. Programming provided by KIDS FIRST!
