The Movement Center
Christmas Spectacular

Learn more about The Movement Center

This holiday season, The Movement Center (TMC) will present its Annual Christmas Spectacular on December 8th at the Mamiya Theatre - one of our largest events of the year. The event features over 130 talented keiki and adults in three holiday shows:

The Nutcracker Act 2
'Twas the Night Before Christmas
TMC Gems Holiday Revue

Act 2 of the Nutcracker has everybody's favorite pieces - the Spanish Chocolate, Chinese Tea and Russian Trepak and the adorable Bonbons - without the long party scene from Act 1. TMC's Nutcracker will feature a beautiful rendition of the Waltz of the Flowers with 16 beautiful dancers waltzing amazing patterns across the stage.

The holiday poem “'Twas the Night Before Christmas” will come alive with tap dancing Reindeer, hip hopping Santas, sprightly Moonbeams and dazzling Icicles. Beautiful snowflake Hula girls and singing elves help tell this delightful Holiday tale.

TMC Gems - a select performance group - will sing and dance their way into your heart with holiday favorites from Broadway and some new holiday songs that will get you in a swingin' good mood for Christmas.

Our 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. shows will be available at no charge for senior groups and outreach shelters that benefit many people, including homeless families. Groups interested in attending should call Christopher at 735-8641 to reserve seats.

Our 7:00 p.m. show will be open to families in the community. Tickets for the evening performance are $15. Audience members are encouraged to bring a canned food or new, unwrapped toy which TMC will deliver to other local charities. To purchase tickets call Colleen at 735-8641.

The day also features a “Cookies with Santa” party for children in our community ages 3-8. Children will create several holiday crafts, eat yummy cookies and have story time with Santa. Chaminade University, Kapiolani Community College's Culinary Arts program, and Meadow Gold are generously supporting this event. Children who attend will have a fun learning experience and take home a nice goody bag full of treats. Cost is $25 per child ($20 for siblings) and reservations are required. For more details call Lori at 735-8641.

The Movement Center is a non-profit organization that provides instruction in dance and performing arts in the heart of the Kaimuk_ district of Honolulu. TMC is known not just for its excellence in performing arts education but for its emphasis on developing the whole person while it promotes the development of skill, talent and discipline.
