Olelo Palolo Production Courses provide you with the basic skills necessary to organize, create, properly shoot and creatively edit your own program that airs on Ōlelo Community Television. Call 737-8803 for details.
Olelo Palolo Complete Production Course 2008
You will complete a first production of 1 minute to 2 minutes (promo, psa or short) and be ready to complete a program length show. Ōlelo Production Course completion & certification is required to produce any show(s).
PROGRAM IDEA OR PSA FOR CABLECASTING REQUIRED!!
PRODUCER(Tuesday & Thursday) - 6-9pm 3/11/2008 and 3/13/2008
You will learn about video production, certification process, policies & procedures, communicating your message, production process, the role of a producer, script terminology, composition, camera/edit decision logs, editing process, production forms, volunteerism and more.
CAMERA -(Tuesday &Thursday) - 6-9pm 3/18/2008 and 3/20/2008
You will learn to work with the Sony PDX10, a small professional camera that records professional-quality images on digital tape. Included in the course shooting practices, safety & organization, camera basics, roles of a tech & audio.
EDITING (Final Cut Pro) (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) 6- 9pm
3/25/2008, 3/26/2008, and 3/27/2008. You will learn non-linear editing with Final Cut Pro, a Macintosh based computer editing program. Learn to start a new project program windows, log & capture footage, shortcut keys, organizing your clips, basic editing, trimming, adding b-roll, creating graphics, transitions, audio and music.
ONE ON ONE STAFFF MENTORING AVAILABLE BY APPOINTMENT
Must be working on an approved project
If you are not able to attend each week, you may re-enter the next course section upon availability. Certification program is from 1 minute to 3 minutes. All participants should expect to spend up to 20 hours outside of the class time to complete their projects. This includes the time necessary to storyboard/script, videotape (studio or remote locations), reviewing/logging footage, preparing for editing (graphics & music) and editing.
You may apply for a tuition waiver for Palolo's training courses. You have the option to pay or volunteer at a rate of 1 hour/$5. Volunteers work on productions or help around the center.
