DIAMOND HEAD THEATRE AUDITIONS FOR "THE PRODUCERS"
Diamond Head Theatre (DHT) is holding auditions for THE PRODUCERS. Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 2 p.m., and Monday, March 24, 2008 at 7 p.m. Auditions are in the DHT Rehearsal Hall at 520 Makapuu Avenue.
Those auditioning should be prepared to sing (bring Broadway-style sheet music in your own key). An accompanist will be provided, and there are no transpositions on site, tapes, karaoke, or a capella allowed. Please also bring appropriate clothes and shoes that you can move/dance in. Bialystock and Bloom! Those names should strike terror and hysteria in anyone familiar with Mel Brooks’ classic cult comedy film. Now as a stage musical, The Producers once again sets the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face humor. The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history thereby bilking their backers (all “little old ladies”) out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show is a smash hit! The antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they maneuver their way fecklessly through finding a show, hiring a director, raising the money and finally getting caught, is a lesson in broad comedy. Musical highlights include: “I Wanna Be A Producer”, “That Face”, and “Springtime for Hitler”.
Directed and choreographed by John Rampage, with musical direction by Emmett Yoshioka, THE PRODUCERS will run from May 16 - June 1, 2008. The show is sponsored by: PM Realty, Commercial Data Systems, Continental Airlines, First Hawaiian Bank, and Crazy Shirts.
