Gala to recognize Hawai'i educators and corporate honoree

Date and Time: Saturday, September 27, 2008: 5 p.m.
Description of event: This gala event presented by the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i (JCCH) honors individuals who have gone Beyond the Call in their civic duty and community service. The event will feature a silent auction and dinner program. This year, the JCCH is honoring: Mrs. Jean Ariyoshi, the first Asian American gubernatorial first lady in the United States; Dr. George Suzuki, a pioneer in gastroscopy techniques that provide early detection of stomach cancer in the United States; Mr. Matsuo Takabuki, a financial and political leader in the community and corporate honoree Armstrong Produce, a locally-owned, family run wholesale produce company established by Harold Teruya. Proceeds from this event will go towards furthering the JCCH's mission of sharing the history, heritage and culture of the Japanese American experience in Hawai'i.
Cost/Entry Fee: $150 per seat. Table sponsorships are available.
JCCH Committee Chairpersons: Susan H. Kitsu and Tyler Tokioka.
Names of sponsoring/benefiting organization: The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, strives to share the history, heritage and culture of the evolving Japanese American experience in Hawai'i.

The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i (JCCH), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is located at 2454 South Beretania Street in Moiliili. The JCCH features a Community and Historical Gallery, Resource Center, Kenshikan martial arts dojo, SeikØan Japanese teahouse and Gift Shop.
