Sakamaki Extraordinary Lectures Series: 'Native Hawaiian Perspectives on Renewable Energy Development'

The Sakamaki Extraordinary Lectures are an annual summer series extending the intellectual resources of the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa to the community. The 2009 lectures support Outreach College's Sustain Your Brain initiative and provide a multi-dimensional examination of Hawai'i's progress in the development of clean and renewable energy.

Funded in part by the Shunzo Sakamaki Extraordinary Lecture Endowment at the University of Hawai'i Foundation and the Hawai'i Energy Policy Forum's Koaniani Fund at the Hawai'i Community Foundation.

'Native Hawaiian Perspectives on Renewable Energy Development'
Native Hawaiians have a tradition of caring for the land and the people of these islands. Faced with environmental, economic, and cultural challenges, leaders in the Hawaiian community engaged in the development of clean energy, scholars of cultural and resource management, and state policy makers come together to discuss policies and actions to ensure a sustainable energy future for Hawai'i.Ramsay Taum, moderator
