FOUR GUEST STORYTELLERS
PUBLIC PERFORMANCES

Four exceptional talents are coming to Hawaii for the 21st Annual Talk Story Festival October 9-11 at McCoy Pavilion (three FREE nights starting at 6pm, presented by the City’s Parks Department). They will also give several FREE shows in public libraries across the state (thanks to the Friends of the Library and UH’s Outreach College) and in a few other venues. Please do include these events in your calendar and plan to attend. Tell friends and include notices in all public outreach. For more information contact libraries listed. Michael Parent

From Maine, Michael is a recipient of the “Circle of Excellence” Award,
Recognizing him as one of America’s finest stotyellers. Over the past 30 years,
he has delighted audiences internationally with his original tales and original
versions of traditional tales. This is his first trip to Hawaii.

Lyn Ford

Comes to Hawaii for the 3rd time from Ohio. Earlier this fall she performed in Ireland, and in the Haunting On The Hill Story Festival (Tennessee). She loves
all African-American folktales, especially Brer Rabbit, but particularly loves to tell ghost stories. She will be doing a good bit of that in Hawaii

Kuniko Yamamoto

Japanese by birth, she now tours constantly out of her home in Florida. Kuniko is celebrated for telling personal tales and traditional Japanese tales in ver un-traditional ways manipulating objects, with magic and masks. She is here to ‘vacation’ with her mother, joining her from Japan... and to tell some tales.

Alton Chung

A local living in Portland, he frequently comes home to tell stories. This year, he has done a residency at the International Storytelling Center (Tennessee) and at the International Storytelling Conference in Singapore. He also is preparing for a new premier at the Okinawan Center on October 24.
