HONOLULU – The Kapi‘olani Community College 22nd Annual International Festival 2010, “PRIDE”, will be held March 15 – 18 from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. A festival showcasing the cultures of the world, this four-day event highlights the college’s international education efforts.

The festival features guest artists such as: Kei Yamaguchi who worked as a make-up artist for film and television, Kazuko Bansho from Japan who will demonstrate traditional Japanese dyeing techniques to paint kimonos, Cyril Pahinui known for his love of the Hawaiian slack key guitar, and the UH Mānoa Tahitian Ensemble.

Numerous lectures, panel discussions, art exhibits, films, performances of dance and music, poetry and literature readings will take place in the ‘Ohia Cafeteria, Lama Library and other classrooms around campus. The events include:

  • Career Opportunities at the U.S. Department of State
  • International Parade of Cultures
  • Badenyaa: The Pride of Africa
  • Duchicela: Music of the Peruvian Andes
