The award-winning University of HawaiÎi KIDS FIRST! Film Festival returns with four summer Sundays of free family films. KIDS FIRST!, a project of the Coalition for Quality Children's Media, is the largest traveling children's film festival in the world. Curated locally by UH Manoa's Outreach College, KIDS FIRST! films are free of gratuitous violence; race, gender, or religious bias; inappropriate content; and condescension towards children. Age-appropriate groupings of films entertain through a balance of animation and live action, plus varied themes from different cultures. To add to the festivities, door prizes are awarded at all screenings.

Animation about a boy who dreams of going to a hockey game with his father to see his favorite team play, the Montreal Canadiens. A favorite of young sports fans at film festivals

Collaboration between Academy Award winner Paul Glickman and teen graphic artist/animator, Tamarind King. Fantasy set in Mexico in the 1800's to the music of Aaron Copland. A young campesino, with his burro and rooster, sneaks out of the house to see a fiesta for the first time. Best Animation, Rome and Independents Film Festivals.

First animated film created with Auryn's watercolor system; adapted from a Jane Yolen fairytale. A girl in ancient Greece cries blossoms instead of tears. Kind and giving, she thinks sad thoughts to cry flowers for the villagers - until she falls for a jovial farmer. Gold Award, KIDS FIRST! Best; winner, International Family Film Festival.

From Italy, the story of a child who fights an illness by imagining he is a knight combating an evil dragon. Combines live action and animation. Gold Award, KIDS FIRST! Best; winner, FirstGlance and Monaco Film Festivals.

Eleven-year-old Katie Hoffman's documentary about an Animal Rescue Fund in Long Island, N.Y. Highlights adorable animals and "love matches" between people and pets. Winner, Best Documentary: Junior Division at CineYouth! Chicago Festival.
