Artist Mark Brown “Art with Mark” for 10 weeks

A student doesn't need to be an artist, or familiar with art, just bring enthusiasm! Mark Brown will teach "How to See" where everyone has a voice and so they will use paint to express that voice. To do that in painting, you will learn the vocabulary of...

• Design, (learning how to attract a viewers eye into a painting and how to keep it there
  
• Value (light to dark, how to build a dramatic painting using lighting as a tool, pretending you're a lighting director on a movie set)
  
• Color, how to get infinite colors from just 5 colors (primaries plus neutrals/grays)
  
• Drawing, learn how to look at objects as shapes and how to use negative shapes to sharpen your design.
  

Student artist needs to decide what medium you want to paint in, watercolor /oil/ acrylic. Mark recommends oils, but will accept others who paint in watercolor or acrylic. Whatever it is, you will use the same vocabulary of design, value, color and drawing.

Fee for WCC members $150, non-members $200 (10 weeks). Single $20 and $28. What to bring? Mark will show student artist what materials to bring in the 1st class. Arrangements will be where you meet Mark at Hawaiian Graphics for materials. Sign-up now! Deadline for full enrollment is Monday, August 23rd. (10 minimum, 25 maximum).
