The Kahala is rolling out the red lanterns, lion dancers, and fortune tellers for Plumeria Beach House’s YEAR OF THE SNAKE dinner buffet February 8 and 9 from 5:30 until 10 p.m. Featuring special recipes from Okura Tokyo Hotel’s famous Chinese Restaurant Toh Ka Lin, this cultural affair will be fun for the whole family. The buffet will feature all its usual bounty of salads, seafood, appetizers, and entrees, plus specialty stations such as the wok stir fry pod, lucky noodles bar, Chinese candy bar, and roasted meats carving station. The restaurant will be decorated in festive Chinese lanterns, colored linens, and traditional Chinese flowers. Entertainment throughout the evening until 9:30 p.m. will include Lion dancers, Chinese fortune teller, Chinese calligraphy demonstrations, and a Chinese moon harp player. Bring your Red Pocket money to feed to the Lion for good luck in 2013!

This hands-on culinary experience includes a cooking demonstration by Pastry Chef Michael Moorhouse. Chef Michael will create a variety of chocolate truffles so delicious, you’ll surrender to the sweet temptation immediately! After class, light refreshments are served. Sweethearts will be swooning over the special dinner Chef Wayne Hirabayashi has prepared for your Valentine’s week fine dining experience. Hoku’s Lover’s menu begins with Anticipation—shrimp with hibiscus and Kaffir lime salt. The Flirtation course includes seared day boat jumbo sea scallops made with vanilla, beets, and crispy nori. The Romance course feature fresh island catch of the day served with coconut rice and passion fruit sauce. Next up is the Passion course with Lehua honey lavender-glazed duck served with baby bok choy and turnips. For dessert, Sweet Additions—Valrhona Ivorie includes white and dark bitter chocolate heart, cocoa nib meringue, and fresh raspberry coulis. Special wines will be paired for a complimentary dining experience.

Sweethearts will be swooning over the chef’s Valentine’s Day Passion buffet in Plumeria Beach House. This buffet is family friendly, so bring the kids and enjoy a bountiful display of seasonal favorites, from fresh sushi and spicy Cajun shrimp for starters to delicious and tempting desserts. Some of the specialty items on the menu will include crispy fried chicken with sweet chili honey sauce, deep-fried oysters with roasted root vegetables and saffron sauce, and a robust cioppino with sour dough bread and honey rouille. At the Chef’s table will be calamari, shrimp and asparagus with mini penne pasta and your choice of ver jus cream sauce or fresh tomato basil sauce. Desserts to tempt include Key lime pie, chocolate sacher hearts, red velvet cupcakes, dulce de leche torte, chocolate and black sesame cake, lemon meringue tarts, and macadamia nut blondies and brownies.

This comfortable lounge overlooks the Dolphin Lagoon with a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. This weekend seafood buffet is truly one of Hawaii’s best. Enjoy an abundant selection of fresh seafoods, sushi, salads, savories, and desserts at this all-you-can-eat affair.
