Queen Emma Summer Palace to present:
Kanikapila Under the Nuuanu Moonlight


Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winners and Merrie Monarch Winner will shine on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, as Queen Emma Summer Palace presents the 3rd Annual Kanikapila Under the Nuuanu Moonlight at 6:00 p.m.

With the enchanting backdrop of the palace, the July 24th Kanikapila will feature entertainment by Hawaii artists Kenneth Makuakane, Wendell and Maria Davis of Napea, Award-winning Merrie Monarch Halau Ka Pa Hula O Kauanoe O Waahila with Kumu Hula Maelia Loebenstein Carter and Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winner Kuuipo Kumukahi. Also featured will be the 2013 Na Hoku Hanohano award recipient as the most promising artist Na Hoa, winner of four of seven awards that include the Album of the Year, the Group of the Year, and the Hawaiian Music Album of the Year.

Cocktails will begin at 6:00 pm. followed by a delicious Poi Supper and entertainment at 7:00 pm. Reservations will be $50.00 per person and can be made online at www.daughtersofhawaii.org or by calling the Queen Emma Summer Palace at (808) 595-3167. The deadline for July reservations will be July 14, 2013.

The Daughters of Hawaii mission is to perpetuate the memory and spirit of old Hawaii and of historic facts, and to preserve the nomenclature and correct pronunciation of the Hawaiian language and maintain Queen Emma Summer Palace at Nuuanu, Oahu, Hulihee Palace at Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and the birth site of Kamehameha III at Keauhou, Hawaii. Queen Emma Summer Palace which is located in Nuuanu Valley was the summer home of Hawaii's beloved Queen Emalani Kalanikaumakaamano Kaleleonalani Naea Rooke, her husband King Alexander Iolani Liholiho Kamehameha IV, and their son, Prince Albert Edward Kauikeaouli Kaleiopapa a Kamehameha.
