Smart Cycling: TRAFFIC SKILLS 101 @ Island Triathlon & Bike An Educational course taught by League Cycling Instructor: Frank Smith LCI #72 Bicyclists have more fun when they ride with skill and confidence. This course will take your cycling enjoyment and skills to a higher level with more than ten hours of classroom and on-the-road instruction by one of Hawaii's most knowledgeable and experienced cyclists, Frank Smith, LCI #72. You will also learn some basic mechanical skills but it's really about having fun on your bike. "CYCLISTS FARE BEST WHEN THEY ACT AND ARE TREATED AS DRIVERS OF VEHICLES" - John Forester Dates: Friday, August 5th 6:00pm -- 8:30pm (snacks provided) Sunday, August 7th 4:00 pm-- 8:00pm Sunday, August 14th 4:00pm -- 8:00pm Course Length: 10.5hrs total = 5 hrs classroom & 5.5 hrs on-road instruction. ABOUT FRANK SMITH LCI #72

League Cycling Instructors (LCI) are experienced cyclists certified by the League of American Bicyclists. Certified instructors pass the League's comprehensive Traffic Skills 101 prior to a certification seminar. Frank Smith is also the owner of Island Triathlon & Bike...serving the Hawaii community for over 25 years!
ABOUT ISLAND TRIATHLON & BIKE

Island Triathlon and Bike first opened it's doors in April of 1984. We were the very first Triathlon specific store in Hawaii, and maybe one of the first in the world. Triathlon was still in it's early years, as athletes like Dave Scott and Mark Allen Began to gain recognition for their Ironman Kona battles, and the ultimate athletic challenge summoned endurance athletes worldwide. Island Triathlon and Bike quickly became an invaluable resource for aspiring athletes locally, and those passing through from around the world. Over the years various stores have come and gone, but IT&B remains. From the days of downtube shifters and steel, to the current marvels of electromechanical engineering and aerospace carbon composites, IT&B has seen it all.

MISSION

Our mission is to be of service to our local community, and the larger global community. We want to do our best to promote cycling as a viable and convenient mode of transportation and recreation. We want to see people become passionate about health and fitness, the outdoors, and watch as they encourage their friends and loved ones to do the same. We want to fight chronic diseases like cancer, obesity, hypertension, depression, and diabetes through swimming, biking and running. Our mission is to make friends, have fun, and help the world to become a cleaner, quieter, and more beautiful place.
