Why Support Kaimuki Middle School
Recently, our Kaimuki Middle School visited the Challenger Learning Center in Kapolei. Our 8th grade team was broken up into five groups. This year was amazing because not only did each group successfully land on the Moon, but they were all able to do so with time to spare -- a feat that hasn't been seen at Kaimuki Middle in 5 years! The "commanders" who run the Challenger Center were impressed by our students' ability to work together to get the job done.

The Challenger field trip is one part of our current interdisciplinary unit (IDU). An IDU is an integrated lesson, in which the four core teachers (English, math, science, and social studies) work together to teach a common concept. This semester we are focusing on "responsibility."

We believe that activities like the Challenger Learning Center provide once-in-a-lifetime experiences that truly reinforce what is taught in the classroom. However, we need your help to continue funding team activities in the future. As our IDU focuses on "responsibility," we feel that the following provides our students an opportunity to be responsible for their team.

We recognize these tough economic times, and we thank you for your continued support!
