Description/Comments

BNI (Business Network Int'l.) is a business and professional networking organization that offers members the opportunity to share ideas, contacts and most importantly, referrals.

With over 5,000 chapters worldwide, BNI is the world's largest professional business networking organization.

Belonging to BNI is like having dozens of sales people working for you. All the other members of your chapter carry your business card around with them, so that when they meet someone new that could use your products or services, they are able to hand your card out and recommend your services. In the year 2007 Business Network Int'l passed 5.5 million referrals in 5,200 chapters with over 103,000 members in 37 countries representing more than 2.2 billion US dollars in business for our members.

It's simple because it is based on a proven concept by BNI Founder, Dr Ivan Misner, called "givers gain." If I give you business, you'll give me business and we'll both benefit as a result. If you wish to build a powerful personal network, branch out. Build a diverse network of professional contacts -- with members from various backgrounds.

Quite frankly, BNI is not for everyone. A typical BNI member is someone who prizes the type of new business which comes from word-of-mouth referrals, and is willing and able to make a commitment to bring this about through the BNI program. BNI provides a structured and supportive system of giving and receiving business. It does so by providing an environment in which you develop personal relationships with dozens of other qualified business professionals. By establishing this "formal" relationship with other people, you will have the opportunity to substantially increase your business.

Only one person from each professional specialty is permitted to join a chapter of BNI.

About BNI
Started in January 1985 by Dr. Ivan R. Misner, Founder & CEO of Business Network Int'l., BNI provides a positive, supportive, and structured environment for men and women to further their business through word-of-mouth marketing.

There are one year and two year participation options. See the Secretary/Treasurer of the chapter you visit for prices. If you apply to participate in BNI, your application will be reviewed by the chapter's membership committee, and you will be notified of the status before the next meeting.
  • Only one person from each professional specialty is permitted to join a chapter of BNI.
  • All participants should represent their primary occupation, not a part-time business.
  • Attendance is critical. If you cannot attend a meeting, you may send a substitute. This will not count as an absence.
  • Participation in the chapter by members is a key to the success of a group. Members can participate by bringing bona-fide referrals and/or visitors to their BNI chapter.
Why Should You Join BNI?
The benefits of joining BNI are numerous. By increased exposure to many other people and businesses you will grow your personal "Sales Force". BNI will provide you with:
  • Substantially increased referrals.
  • Tools to network more effectively, including an orientation cassette tape giving the "Formula for Success" in BNI, a badge, a vinyl card holder to carry members' business cards, referral slips, marketing materials for your chapter and much, much more.
  • Participation in up to 52 networking meetings per year.
  • Quarterly newsletters with educational material on networking, public speaking, and business.
  • Participation in business tradeshows (where you'll have an opportunity to market your chapter and your business).
  • Free periodic workshops on networking.
