Governor Lingle Releases $1,245,000 For School Renovations - Kaimuki High School gets $300,000. ![]() EXECUTIVE CHAMBERS HONOLULU NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release: July 12, 2006 GOVERNOR LINGLE RELEASES $1,245,000 FOR SCHOOL RENOVATIONS HONOLULU Ð Governor Linda Lingle has released $1,245,000 for improvements at Kaimuki High School, Salt Lake Elementary School and Kawananakoa Middle School on O`ahu. "Given the importance of obtaining a good education, it is the state's responsibility to ensure that our classrooms are safe, comfortable and well maintained," Governor Lingle said. KAIMUKI HIGH SCHOOL ($300,000) This project will renovate an existing space at Kaimuki High to create a center for multi-media productions, computer editing, television broadcasts facilities and other uses. `Olelo Community Television and Kaimuki High's feeder school, Jarrett Middle School, will also use the new media center, which is scheduled for completion in May 2008. This project is priority number 77 of 89 in the Department of Education's (DOE) Capital Improvement Project (CIP) implementation plan dated February 17, 2006. SALT LAKE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ($800,000) This allotment will create two separate classrooms in Building F at Salt Lake Elementary so students will have more privacy to focus on their studies. Air-conditioning will also be installed. The project is estimated for completion in April 2008. This project is priority number 75 of 89 in the DOE's CIP implementation plan. KAWANANAKOA MIDDLE SCHOOL ($145,000) These funds will be used at Kawanakakoa Middle School for design and construction of a replacement bell system, which will also serve as an emergency warning device.
