JCCH receives $50,000 donation for Hokulea from Island InsuranceFoundation

PRESS RELEASE
February 28, 2007

JCCH receives $50,000 donation for Hokulea from Island Insurance
Foundation

HONOLULU-The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i (JCCH) is pleased to
announce a $50,000 donation from the Island Insurance Foundation<br> specifically to benefit Hokule'a's voyage to Japan and Micronesia and to
support JCCH's efforts as a Community Partner to the Polynesian Voyaging
Society (PVS) for the project. On Saturday, March 3 at 11:30 a.m. Island
Insurance Company Ltd. will present the check to the JCCH at the grand
opening of its exhibit, Navigating Cultural Connections: Hokule'a's
Voyage to Japan.

"Island Insurance's generous donation allows the JCCH to lend financial
and in-kind support to the Polynesian Voyaging Society for Hokule'a's
voyage to Japan," said Judge Riki May Amano (Ret.), JCCH
President/Executive Director. "In addition, we are proud to recognize
and honor the historical and cultural connections between Hawai'i and
Japan in our newest exhibition."

The Hokule'a's voyage to Japan celebrates the historic and contemporary
cross-cultural connections that were established in 1881 when Hawai'i's
first state leader, King David Kalakaua, met with Emperor Meiji of
Japan. The JCCH's exhibit, Navigating Cultural Connections: Hokule'a's
Voyage to Japan, focus on the eight different Japan prefectures-Ehime,
Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Kanagawa, Kumamoto, Nagasaki, Okinawa and
Yamaguchi-that the Hokule'a will be visiting because each has historic
ties with Hawai'i and/or the United States.

The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i (JCCH), a non-profit
organization, strives to share the history, heritage and culture of the
evolving Japanese American experience in Hawai'i. Located in Mo'ili'ili,
the Center features a Community and Historical Gallery, Resource Center,
Kenshikan martial arts dojo, Seikoan Japanese teahouse and Gift Shop.
