Chaminade University Presidential Finalists Selected


HONOLULU - March 4, 2009 - Chaminade University announced today that its Presidential Search Committee has narrowed its list of candidates for the new President of Chaminade to three finalists. They are in alphabetical order:

• David B. House, Ph.D., served as president of Saint Joseph's College of Main from 1995 until 2007. Prior to that, he was vice president for academic affairs at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky.
  
  
• Bro. Bernard Ploeger, S.M., Ph.D., currently serves at Chaminade University as its acting president, as well as its executive vice president and provost. He has served the university twice as its acting president since coming to Chaminade in 2001.
  
  
• Gerard Voland, Ph.D., currently serves as the dean of the College of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science at Indiana University -- Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). Prior to IPFW, he served as associate vice president for undergraduate education and dean of the Undergraduate College at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.

All three candidates will be on campus next week, so that members of the Chaminade community will be able to meet with each of them individually. Chaminade students, staff, faculty and alumni are invited to meetings scheduled for March 9-11. The university's Board of Regents hopes to finalize its choice before May 2009.
