CENTRAL PACIFIC BANK DONATES $25,000 TO UH STUDENT ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Honolulu, HI - February 16, 2010 - Central Pacific Bank (CPB) presented a $25,000 donation to the University of Hawaii Foundation on January 23 as part of the CPB Endowed Scholarship Fund benefitting University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) student athletes majoring in business. Annually, for every touchdown, volleyball service ace or three-pointer in basketball made by a UHM athlete, Central Pacific Bank contributes $100 to the fund.

"As a bank that was founded to help serve our communities and neighbors, we're a proud supporter of the University of Hawaii," said Denis Isono, Vice Chairman of Central Pacific Bank. "We're pleased to be able to help these student athletes who work just as hard on the court or field as they do in the classroom preparing for a career in business and productive members of our community." Since the fund was established in 1998, Central Pacific Bank has contributed more than $250,000 to help hundreds of UH Manoa student athletes in need of tuition assistance.

"At a time when it's tempting for businesses to cut back or eliminate their contributions to the community, we applaud and thank Central Pacific Bank, not only for its generosity, but for seeing this donation not as a gift, but as an investment in the future of these student athletes and the community as a whole," said Jim Donovan, UH Athletics Director. The University of Hawaii Foundation, a nonprofit organization, raises private funds to support the University of Hawaii System. The Foundation's mission is to unite CENTRAL PACIFIC BANK DONATES $25,000 TO UH STUDENT ATHLETE SCHOLARSHIP FUND its donors' passions with the University of Hawaii's aspirations to benefit the people of Hawaii and beyond.
