Official Blessing and Dedication of the Clarence T.C. Ching "Field of Dreams"

Honolulu, Hawaii - Saint Louis School has announced the dedication and blessing of its new athletic field to take place on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. The field dedication comes on the heels of Saint Louis winning the ILH football championship last weekend. Saint Louis has a history of being a football powerhouse in the State of Hawaii as well as being nationally recognized over the years. The generosity of the Clarence T. C. Ching Foundation will allow Saint Louis to continue to provide an excellent football and athletic program combined with its mission of educating students in the Catholic Marianist Tradition.

During the ceremony, President and retired Apellate Court Judge Walter Kirimitsu '58 will accept the $590,000 check from the Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation. All Trustees of the Ching Foundation, its President, and a few family members of the late Clarence T.C. Ching will be present to share in the dedication. Saint Louis School will also honor former head football coach, Cal Lee, for building a legacy of championships at Kalaepohaku. Lee led the Crusaders to 14 Prep Bowl Championships and the inaugural HHSAA State Championship in 1999. Also during the field dedication, there will be a special portion of the program that will feature Darnell Arceneaux '96, former two time, all-state quarterback, University of Utah quarterback and current head coach of the Varsity football team, along with Jason Rivers Ô03, two time, all-state wide receiver and former University of Hawaii stand out. Rivers was a contributing member of University of Hawaii's undefeated football team during the 2007 season alongside fellow teammates Colt Brennan and Devone Bess under head coach June Jones. The two will participate with their former head coach Cal Lee in a special ceremonial dedication of the "field of dreams," along with other dignitaries and surprise guests on hand.

At the field dedication, new principal Patricia Hamamoto will address other uses of the field by both Saint Louis School and Chaminade, including other sports, extra-curricular activities, events, as well as academics. Since joining the school in February 2010, Saint Louis School benefits from Ms. Hamamoto's 40+ years of experience in education, at a time when the school is embarking on a journey in technology that includes laptops for every student and wireless Internet connectivity in every classroom.
