"NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS" 9th ANNUAL SEMINAR--Friday, September 28, 2012
HONOLULU—August 28, 2012-- The Ninth Annual "Nonprofit Organizations" One-day Seminar, sponsored by Chaminade University, will take place on Friday, September 28, from 7:45 a.m. (registration) to 5:30 p.m., at the Pagoda Hotel, International Ballroom.

The seminar will provide useful information on current issues and changing requirements that affect every nonprofit and provide insights that will help organizations deal with the unique challenges facing them today. Recent legislative and regulatory changes make this year’s seminar especially relevant. The venue is an excellent opportunity for non-profits to get caught up on the new rules, including new rules on Form 990 and Act 174 relating to charitable trusts and nonprofit organizations. Expert faculty will guide attendees through the tricky maze of tax-exempt compliance and review the categories and governing instruments for tax-exempt organizations. They will also update attendees on new laws which protect a non-profit organization's status, the audit accounting standard, use of tax-exempt entities, and strategies for maintaining a tax-exempt status.

The lineup of speakers include Gailene Wong of the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, of Honolulu, Hawaii; Kurt Kawafuchi of Hochman, Salkin, Rettig, Toscher & Perez, P.C. of Beverly Hills, California; Charles P. Rettig of Hochman, Salkin, Rettig, Toscher & Perez, P.C. of Beverly Hills, California; Allen Arakaki of Allen Arakaki, CPA Inc., of Honolulu, Hawaii, Hugh Jones, Supervising Deputy Attorney General, Tax Division, of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Benjamin Brower, State of Hawaii Dept. of Taxation, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Cost to attend is $160.00 per person. To register, contact Christie Engel at Chaminade University at 808-440-4280 or Christie.engel@chaminade.edu.
