NEW IN THE LIBRARY

FRIENDSHIP GARDEN

Do you recognize these cute critters? They enjoy the library's Friendship Garden, located by the drive-through book drop. The garden's recent beautification is from the loving attention of the Kimura family as an ʻIolani School community service project. Take a look and be a friend!

PROGRAMS

FREE LIBRARY PROGRAM, LILIʻUOKALANI'S HE LEI, HE ALOHA

"This Is A Lei Of Love" celebrates the enduring legacies of Queen Liliʻuokalani--her music, love of homeland and complete dedication to the people. Meleanna Aluli Meyer, artist, educator, filmmaker and descendant of Emma Nawahi, confidante of the queen, will narrate. This free, 45-minute participatory program includes community readings* from the Queen's autobiography Hawaiʻi's Story by Hawaiʻi's Queen, a 7-minute vignette inspired by the Queen, and a sing-along of some of the Queen's music.

Sunday, September 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the adult reading room.

*Be a volunteer reader for this program! Ask at the reference desk for more information.
