PROGRAMS @ KAIMUKI PUBLIC LIBRARY

FREE HOLIDAY CONCERT

The library proudly presents the Sandra Wong String Studio with a free Christmas concert in the library. Listen to contemporary Christmas songs, hymn and carols. Mele Kalikimaka from Kaimuki Public Library! Sunday, December 22 at 2:00 p.m.

DECEMBER HOLIDAYS

Happy Holidays! The library will be open special hours, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, and closed on Wednesday, December 25. We will also be open special hours on Tuesday, December 31, 10:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m., and closed Wednesday, January 1, 2014. These special hours are also noted below*

HSPLS MOBILE NETBOOK LOAN PROGRAM

AT KAIMUKI LIBRARY

These fully-functional laptop computers, provided by a federal Library Services and Technology Act grant, are available for a three-week loan period free of charge for patrons with a valid library card and a picture I.D. The netbooks are equipped with mobile internet services and Microsoft 2010 programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote). Enjoy your holiday season with an HSPLS Mobile Netbook from Kaimuki Library!

HAWAIʻI STATE PUBLIC LIBRARY HOT PICKS

A "Hot Pick" is a high demand new book or DVD. Library customers may borrow these items for a shortened loan period of 7 days (instead of the regular 21 days) in order to give other patrons a chance to read or view these materials. A $1 rental fee applies to each DVD title.

Come in or look online to peruse the titles or make a request for the books and DVDs selected each month by the Hawaiʻi State Public Library System's Hot Picks Committee!

SUNDAY STORYTIMES CONTINUE

Children accompanied by a parent or caregiver can listen to stories, participate in finger plays and rhymes, and make and take home a small craft to remember the day's stories, Sundays, December 1, 8 and 15 at 10:30 a.m.

GET READY--ANOTHER FUN FRIENDS of KAIMUKI PUBLIC LIBRARY MEETING and USED BOOK AND MEDIA SALE, BOTH COMING IN THE NEW YEAR

Learn about The Friends of Kaimuki Public Library at their membership meeting, Tuesday, January 14, 6:30 p.m. in the library's Green Room (Young Adult section).

Then, find great bargains on used books: fiction; children's; and cookbooks--PLUS DVDs and CDs! Join us at the next pop-up sale, Friday, January 17 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the covered area of the library parking lot.

Contact the library at least two weeks in advance if a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed for any of our programs.

The mission of the Hawaii State Public Library System is to provide Hawaii's residents, in all walks of life, and at each stage of their lives, with access to education, information, programs and services, and to teach and nurture the love of reading and the habit of life-long learning.

Library Cards
You may apply for a library card at any Hawaii public library. The initial card is FREE for Hawaii residents. Cards are also free for military personnel and their dependents with a copy of orders. The resident card replacement fee is $5.00. Resident library cards must be renewed every five years. There is no charge for the renewal.

Loan Renewals:
On person with library material or call 733-8422, then press "0" -- have your library material with you when calling. For online renewals, use www.librarieshawaii.org and "my account" and your library card no.
