PROGRAMS @ KAIMUKI PUBLIC LIBRARY

SUNDAY STORY TIMES

Story time will be every Sunday, from September 7 through December 14, at 10:30 a.m. Listen to stories and make crafts. Children through age 7 accompanied by an adult are welcome. Please call the library 2 weeks prior to the program to request a sign-language interpreter if needed.

CHAMBER MUSIC HAWAII

On Sunday, September 21, at 2:00 p.m., Chamber Music Hawaii's Honolulu Brass Quintet will perform in the Adult Reading Room. The repertoire will include This Old Man March (Robert Nagel), Lisbon (Percy Grainger), Star Wars Medley (John Williams), and other pieces representing a wide range of musical genre. Free. Sponsored by Friends of Kaimuki Public Library.

LIBRARY CARD SIGN-UP MONTH

The American Library Association has designated September as Library Card Sign-up Month. If you are new to the library system or need to reactivate your existing card, drop by the library and apply for a library card for yourself or the kids when you present your valid photo ID and proof of address. Hawaii-resident cards are free, valid for 5 years (except for $5 replacement cards), and renewable at no charge for an additional 5-year period.

COMPUTER TUTORIALS

Sign up at the reference desk for Friday-morning (10:00 a.m., 1 hour max) tutorials in essential computer use, e-mail, surfing the Web, Microsoft Office basics, or any other elementary computer-use topic of your choice.

YARN STORM

Yarn-art works created by young adults volunteering for the Summer Reading Program are on display in the Young Adult section of the library.

WIKIWIKI VOTER REGISTRATION

It's election time. Pick up your Wikiwiki Voter Registration & Permanent Absentee and Wikiwiki Absentee Application next to the public photocopier or at the reference desk.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND BREAK

Kaimuki Public Library will be closed on Sunday, August 31, and Monday, September 1, for the Labor Day weekend.

Sunday 10 am -- 5 pm

Mon & Tue 10 am -- 8 pm

Wed & Thu 10 am -- 6 pm

Friday 1 pm -- 5 pm

Always Closed on Saturdays

The mission of the Hawaii State Public Library System is to provide Hawaii's residents, in all walks of life, and at each stage of their lives, with access to education, information, programs and services, and to teach and nurture the love of reading and the habit of life-long learning.

Library Cards
You may apply for a library card at any Hawaii public library. The initial card is FREE for Hawaii residents. Cards are also free for military personnel and their dependents with a copy of orders. The resident card replacement fee is $5.00. Resident library cards must be renewed every five years. There is no charge for the renewal.

Loan Renewals:
On person with library material or call 733-8422, then press "0" -- have your library material with you when calling. For online renewals, use www.librarieshawaii.org and "my account" and your library card no.
