JOHN MELVILLE KELLY EXHIBIT
Now through November 30
The Manoa Public Library is proud to present selected works from John Melville Kelly, a master printmaker, etcher and artist who is often referred to as "Hawai'i's Gauguin." His work, widely regarded as exceptionally skilled in composition as well as technique, is in museums throughout the United States. His art depicts the lives and culture of the people of Hawaii from the late 1920's through the early 1960s. John's wife Kate was an established sculptor and photographer, and introduced John to the techniques of etching. Both John and Kate's art captured a genuine appreciation of the Native Hawaiian people. The exhibit is located in the second floor lobby and in a smaller display inside the library.
