| Description/Comments |
Children can dress up in elegant kimono and zo¯ri (sandals) and capture the day with a professional photograph at this traditional JCCH event. Shichi Go San, literally translated as "seven, five, three," stems from the Meiji Era (1868-1912) when parents brought their kimono-clad children--girls, ages three and seven; and boys, age three and five--to Shinto¯ shrines on November 15 and prayed for their children to have long and prosperous lives. This year, children are invited to don traditional kimono and pose for a portrait taken by a professional photographer
Cost/Entry Fee: Non-members $70 each child; JCCH Members $56 each child. Photographs are a separate cost. Make-up and hair dressing are not included.
The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i (JCCH), a non-profit organization, strives to strengthen our diverse community by educating present and future generations in the evolving Japanese American experience in Hawai'i. Located in Mo¯'ili'ili, the Center features a Community and Historical Gallery, Resource Center, Kenshikan martial arts do¯jo¯, Seiko¯an Japanese teahouse and Gift Shop. For more information call (808) 945-7633, email info@jcch.com or visit the website at www.jcch.com.
