Chaminade University of Honolulu’s Performing Arts Theatre presents - Someday by Drew Hayden Taylor In the play Someday by Drew Hayden Taylor, Anne Wabung's daughter was taken away by children's aid workers when the girl was only a toddler. It is Christmastime 35 years later, and Anne's yearning to see her now-grown daughter is stronger than ever. When the family is finally reunited, however, the dreams of neither woman are fulfilled. Though told through the fictional characters of one family, the play is based on the real-life tragedies suffered by many Native Canadian families during the Canadian government's "Children Scoop Up" policy affecting the Ojibway people in the 1950s and 1960s. Filled with Taylor's distinctive wit and humor, Someday is an entertaining, humorous and spirited play that packs an intense emotional wallop. Someday opens Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and repeats Nov. 6, 8, and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and on Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. Celebrating more than 50 years of educating students for life, service and successful careers, Chaminade University offers programs of study grounded in the liberal arts with day, evening, online and accelerated courses.
