It's the Holiday Season . . . come celebrate with us @ your local library! Public libraries statewide will showcase book displays featuring titles that will help everyone prepare for the holidays, including books on cooking, gift wrapping, decorating, homemade craft ideas, tree trimming, and the origins of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa.
In addition, many libraries have scheduled special holiday storytimes and a variety of family programs. Here is a sampling of the programs; admission is free:
. Puppet Times with Christy Lipps: Dec. 2, 10:30 a.m. at McCully-Moiliili Public Library; and on Dec. 6, 2 p.m. at Waianae Public Library. This puppeteer will bring to life all-time favorite children's Christmas stories using beautifully-crafted puppets, finger plays and songs; sponsored by Friends of McCully-Moiliili Public Library and Friends of Waianae Library, respectively. Holiday Storytimes and Crafts, Dec. 2, 9, 16, 10:30 a.m., Hawaii State Library-Edna Allyn Children's Room (for children of all ages with parents/caregivers). Call 586-3510.

. Preschool Storytime with Santa, Dec. 3, 2:30 p.m., Kaneohe Public Library's Children's Section (for ages 2 - 6 and families). Listen to Santa and the Children's Librarian read aloud preschool stories. Bring a camera to take photos of Santa after the program. Call 233-5676. . Under the Stars: Star Light, Star Bright, Dec. 5, 6:30 p.m., Kapolei Public Library Children's Room (for all ages). "Travel" to distant lands in stories, songs and poems. Bring a camera to take photos with Santa near his sleigh. Call 693-7050.
. Holiday Cards with Jocelyn Lopez: Dec. 6, 1 p.m. and Dec. 12, 6:30 p.m., Kahuku Public & School Library Conference Room (ages 5 - up). Learn how to use stamps to create beautiful holiday cards; sponsored by the Friends of the Library at Kahuku. Call 293-8935.
. Magician Bradley Choy Magic & Comedy Show, Dec. 6, 6 p.m., Waipahu Public Library's C.O. Andy Anderson Room (ages 3 - up). Show features live rabbits; children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Program sponsored by the Friends of Waipahu Public Library. Call 675-0358.
. Winter Wonderland with Oogles N Googles: Dec. 6, 6 p.m., Kaneohe Public Library and on Dec. 7, 10:30 a.m. at Mililani Public Library Children's Area (for ages 2 - up with a parent). Children will have fun singing and dancing while learning about the winter season. Program at Mililani sponsored by the Friends of Mililani Public Library. . Traditional Christmas Music, Dec. 8, 3:30 p.m., Molokai Public Library (for all ages). The trio of Isle Borden (baritone sax), David Layne (trumpet), and Kanoe Lidstone (Celtic harp) will perform. Call (808) 553-1765.
. 10th Annual Holualoa Music and Light Festival, Dec. 8, 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m., Holualoa Public Library and Holualoa Village (for all ages). The library will host an entertainment stage and at 6 p.m., the lighting of the town Christmas Tree. Call (808) 322-1914.
. Holiday "Do Re Mi" Music with Art Suankum, Dec. 11, 3 p.m., Pearl City Public Library Adult Reading Area (ages 5 - up). Children will learn how to sing and play musical instruments to Christmas songs. Program sponsored by a patron's donation to Pearl City Public Library. Call 453-6566.
. Keiki Holiday Crafts, Dec. 9, 10 a.m., Kailua-Kona Public Library. Children ages five and up are invited to join library staff in making fabric wreaths, holiday party trail mix, and bead and bell ornaments. Call (808) 327-4327.
. Christmas Crafts & Stories, Dec. 13, 3 p.m., Hana Public & School Library Meeting Room (for all ages). Listen to Christmas stories read aloud and make a Christmas craft to take home. Call (808) 248-4848.
. Christmas Fun with Santa and Friends, Dec. 16, 10 a.m., Waialua Public Library (for all ages). A special Christmas storytime, make ornament crafts, receive a present, and bring a camera for a photo op with Santa and his elf. Call 637-8286.

HOLIDAY SEASON 2006 LIBRARY PROGRAMS 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - 4
. Holiday Season Concert by the Lutheran Church of Honolulu Choir, Dec. 16, 11:30 a.m., Hawaii State Library Main Lobby (for all ages). Led by Director Carl Crosier, this choir will perform sacred choral music. Co - sponsored by the library's Hawaii & Pacific and Art, Music & Recreation Sections. Call 586-3520.
. A Very Merry Christmas Party, Dec. 18, 5:15 p.m., Hawaii Kai Public Library Meeting Room (ages 3 - up). Featuring Holiday season stories read aloud, "magical twists" by Balloon Monsoon, door prizes, light refreshments, and for the first 50 people: free goodie bags and a holiday craft. Sponsored by the Friends of the Hawaii Kai Library; call 397-5833.
