CELEBRATE KAIMUKI KANIKAPILA PLANNED FOR NOVEMBER 3
Honolulu, HI, (September 27, 2007) - The Kaimuki Business and Professional Association (KBPA) and Greater East Honolulu Community Alliance (GEHCA) proudly present Celebrate Kaimuki Kanikapila on Saturday, November 3 at Kaimuki Community Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. A limited number of parking stalls will be made available at Queen Liliuokalani Elementary School at no cost to the public.
Visitors will enjoy live local entertainment while browsing over 90 craft, merchant, food, and community booths. Free prizes will be awarded throughout the day from the lucky winner drawing contest.
Our goal is to build this into a signature community event, Chair Eric Wong, Celebrate Kaimuki Kanikapila Committee, said. The event will feature some of the island's most popular crafters offering a wide range of products including jewelry, clothing, art, and other fun items. It's the perfect time for visitors to take advantage of the good mix of vendors and exceptional quality crafts to get a head start on their holiday shopping, he said.
KBPA will be selling coupon books offering special deals and discounts from area businesses at its booth for a nominal fee.
Kaimuki is unique because of its old town charm and mix of notable restaurants and boutique shops. We encourage residents and visitors alike to come out and discover everything the town has to offer, KBPA President John Kobayashi said.
Funds raised from the event will be used to support the KBPA Foundation, revitalization projects, and community events. The KBPA Foundation provides college scholarships for area high school seniors.
The Kaimuki Business & Professional Association was formed in 1946 to address the needs of Kaimuki's business community. KBPA sponsors a number of annual events that bring together businesses, professionals, and the community including the Kaimuki Christmas Parade (one of the oldest in the state), the Halloween Costume contest, the Easter Egg Hunt, and the KBPA Academic Scholarship.
The Greater East Honolulu Community Alliance is a non-profit community organization formed in 1997 to promote business and economic growth, and preserve and enhance the quality of life in Kaimuki and its surrounding communities. Previous GEHCA projects include Our Neighborhood Trolley, Kanikapila I and II Block Parties, and support for the Waialae Avenue Business District Master Plan and Parking Study.
