Diamond Head Theatre (DHT) finishes its 2007-2008 season with THE WIZARD OF OZ opening on Friday, July 11, 2008. Based upon the classical motion picture, the DHT production is filled with adorable Munchkins, a fearsome Wicked Witch and a girl who finds there is no place like home.

Little Dorothy Gale of Kansas, like so many girls her age, dreams of what lies over the rainbow. One day a twister hits her farm and carries her and her dog Toto away over the rainbow to another world. Things in Oz are strange and beautiful, but Dorothy just wants to get back home; so she travels to the Emerald City to see a great wizard who may be able to help her. On her way she meets a Scarecrow who needs a brain, a Tin Man who wants a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who desperately needs courage. Memorable songs: “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, “Ding-Dong The Witch Is Dead”, “Munchkinland”, “Off to See the Wizard”, and “If I Only Had a Heart”.

With music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg with background music by Herbert Stothart, the DHT production is directed by Rob Duval, with choreography by John Rampage, and musical direction by Peter Rucci. The cast features: Kalia Medeiros as Dorothy Gale, Justin Hashimoto as the Scarecrow / Hunk, Daniel Lloyd Pias as the Tin Man / Hickory, Larry Bialock as the Lion / Zeke, Paul Mitri as the Wizard / Professor Marvel, Kathleen Sulieman as the Wicked Witch / Miss Gulch, Megan DeBoard as Aunt Em / Glinda, Fedrico Biven as Uncle Henry / Emerald City Guard, and Maile as Toto.

The ensemble includes: Marcela Biven, Katherine Clifton, Madison Eror, Reyn Halford, Alexis Hazelwood, Jennifer Iacovelli, Andrea Lopes, Camille Michel, Cameron Olson, Hannah Olson, Diamond Tachera, Devon Tumacder, and Ryan Yamauchi.

The Munchkins are: Meredith Collat, Ka'alaka'iopono Faurot, Amber Hazelwood, Jacelyn Houghteling, Haley Kagimoto, Hallie Lam, Robert-John McOwen, Taylor McPherson, Chelsea Michel, Marielle Nakai, Keely Nakama, Douglas Nettel, Marlo Nettel, Tommy Olson, Kelly Opendack, Caitlyn Reynolds, Stephanie Robinson, Ava Williams, Ciera Young, and Jorin Young,

The creative team is comprised of set designer Willie Sabel, costume designer Karen Wolfe, lighting designer Dawn Oshima, sound designer Mikel Humerickhouse, make-up and hair designer Jess Aki, props designer Douglas Scheer, and production stage manager Meagan Olson.
