ROBERT MEREDITH WILLSON’S THE MUSIC MAN
OPENS AT CHAMINADE UNIVERSITY APRIL 1



Chaminade University’s Performing Arts Department will present Robert Meredith Willson’s The Music Man, at 7:30 p.m. on April 1, 2 and 3, at Mamiya Theatre, 3140 Waialae Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96816. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for children, seniors, military, students and Chaminade faculty and staff. For advance tickets, email csakamot@chaminade.edu or call (808) 735-4827.

Directed by Bro. Gary Morris with Timothy Carney as musical director and Brad Powell as choreographer, The Music Man will be a hit audiences who love the razzle-dazzle music and dance of Broadway wrapped in a wholesome story.

BRO. GARY MORRIS, SM, a native San Franciscan, has been directing plays for more than 35 years and has 100 plays to his credit. He is part of a team invited to Chaminade University to develop performing arts classes and programs on campus. This is his sixth year at Chaminade as associate professor of theater and English.

TIMOTHY CARNEY serves as associate professor of music at Chaminade University, where he teaches courses in Great Composers, Musical Theatre, and conducts the Chaminade Chorus. He is also music director of the Hawaii Vocal Arts Ensemble, a select choral group in residence at Chaminade.Ê

BRAD POWELL is an award winning director, choreographer, dancer and actor. For 21 years, he was the executive producer/writer for educational television. He has acted, directed and choreographed at all of the major theatres in Hawaii as well as on the mainland, in Germany, Samoa, Portugal, Japan and Norway. Powell has worked with Morris on several productions, including last year’s Brigadoon.
