OAHU CIVIC ORCHESTRA GIVES FREE “SPIRIT OF AMERICA” CONCERT APRIL 6
--CHAMINADE’S ORCHESTRA IN RESIDENCE--


HONOLULU—April 2, 2009-- The Oahu Civic Orchestra, also known as Chaminade University’s Orchestra-In-Residence, will present a free concert titled “Spirit of America” starting at 7 p.m., on Monday, April 6, at Chaminade University, Eiben Hall; 3140 Waialae Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96816. The concert will feature selections from composers Aaron Copland, George M. Cohan, John Philip Sousa and John Williams. Guest vocalists include Gerald Ting and Aaron Mahi.

The Oahu Civic Orchestra (OCO) is a volunteer, community orchestra, which provides amateur musicians the opportunity to perform classical, pop, and contemporary music. Volunteer musicians practice regularly as an orchestra at Chaminade. OCO’s mission is to enrich the quality of life and culture on Oahu by providing a nurturing and supportive environment for ALL musicians to challenge, develop and enjoy their musical skills by regularly attending rehearsals and participating in performances of music in the community. Anyone who plays an instrument with advanced techniques is welcome to join this volunteer, community orchestra.
