Generations of Honolulu audiences have enjoyed this perennial Christmas favorite, a charming tale of holiday adventure that follows a little girl's journey through a fantasy world. The Nutcracker transforms before the eyes of a rapt audience, into a Prince who leads his toy soldiers into battle against an army of mice to save Clara. The two are whisked off to an enchanted land of Sugar Plum Fairies and Candy Canes. The Snow Queen and her Cavalier, beautifully costumed, flow across the stage and exotic flavors come alive.

It is appealing to children and adults alike and has been the standard yearly feature of Honolulu?s holiday stage. The production showcases the students of Hawaii State Ballet Company, many of whom, go on to professional careers in dance.

Performance Shcedule:
December 11-13 & 18-20, 2009
Friday & Saturday Evening performances 7:00 p.m.
Saturday Matinee performances 3:30 p.m.
Sunday Matinee performances 1:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Tickets ranging from $20.00- $30.00 with discounts for Military, Children
(12 and under) and Seniors (62 and over) are available through the Honolulu

The Nutcracker is a ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, composed in 1891-92, and based on The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, a story by E.T.A. Hoffman (1816). Generations of audiences have enjoyed this perennial Christmas favorite, a charming tale of holiday adventure that follows a little girl's journey through a fantasy world of fairies, princes, toy soldiers, and an army of mice. It is appealing to children and adults alike and has been the standard yearly feature here in Honolulu performed by the students of Hawaii State Ballet Company, and directed by Mr. John Landovsky for almost 20 years.
