FOCUS: SLAM POETRY AND THE SPOKEN WORD
March 5, Furlough Friday Workshop at Chaminade
Jamming with words, twisting with phrases, this free furlough Friday workshop features Dar’ron Cambra, mentor and workshop facilitator for Youth Speaks Hawai’i. Held at Ching Conference Center, Eiben Hall, at Chaminade University, 3140 Waialae Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96816, this literary workshop is scheduled for Friday, March 5, from 8:15 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by lunch and is geared for high school students. A campus tour is optional after lunch.

There is no charge for the workshop, lunch, or tour, but space is limited. Please call (808) 739-8340 to reserve a spot (and lunch) as soon as possible. Search for furlough Fridays at www.chaminade.edu for more information.

Dar’ron Cambra represented Hawaii three times in national competitions and has helped coach local teens in winning back-to-back championships at Brave New Voices national poetry festivals. He also is the new host of the monthly poetry show, Bringing Back Kerouac, at Honolulu’s Anna Banana’s.
