2010 Moonlight Mele on the Lawn
Join us for a spectacular summer celebration of Hawaiian Hall's three unique realms- Kai Akea, the realm of mystic origins, Wao Kanaka, the realm of man, and Wao Lani, the heavenly realm.
New this season, we invite you to arrive early to enjoy the Museum's galleries, musical acts, performance art, hula, food and beverage, and more prior to the main concert's start at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Also new this season are Gourmet Picnic Baskets for Two, with your choice of entree and optional biottle of wine, available via presale.
N Palapalai and George Kahumoku - Saturday August 7, 2010
Na PalapalaiN Palapalai and George Kahumoku will double headline, supported by the Royal Hawaiian Band, ukulele whiz Taimane Gardner, Waipuna, the Galliard String Quartet, and H lau Hula Ka No’eau, led by kumu hula Michael Pilipang. The realm of Wao Lani represents the gods, the ali‘i and key moments in Hawaiian history, so the subtitle of the evening will be “The Queen’s Songbook” as classic Hawaiian songs and monarchy music ring out from all three stages. Samadhi Hawaii will bring aerial dancing to accompany the headlining N Palapalai.
