Music Therapy and Emotional Wellness”
Presented by Dr. h. c. Reiner Haus and other Mental Health Professionals

Sounding Joy Music Therapy Inc. and Catholic Charities Hawaii will be hosting a Music Therapy and Emotional Wellness seminar on April 16, 2011. Keynote speaker, Dr. h. c. Reiner Haus, is a German-native Music Therapist M.A. and Special Teacher M.A, who currently serves as director of the music therapy department at the University Children Hospital Datteln in Germany. Dr. Haus is known as a leading researcher and contributor to many international music therapy publications. He also serves as the scientific advisor for Sounding Joy Music Therapy Inc. here in Hawaii.


The “Music Therapy and Emotional Wellness” seminar aims to: 1) Provide the public with information about the benefits of music therapy in the area of mental health, 2) Provide music therapists and other clinicians with opportunities to improve their professional competencies, 3) Develop professional networking which supports music therapy, 4) Provide institutions with more insights of the practice of music therapy that would specifically address emotional wellbeing in order to develop integrated mental health practice in Hawaii.

Dr. h. c. Reiner Haus who will be leading the confrence, is a German-native Music Therapist M.A. and Special Teacher M.A, who serves currently as director of the music therapy department at the University Children Hospital Datteln in Germany and is known as experienced researcher and contributor to many international music therapy publications. Confrence will focus on:

Music effects on one's emotional state.
Population specific, client-centered music therapy approaches.
Identification of emotional implication of specific conditions and disabilities and music therapy interventions to support its healing process.
Most current research findings in music therapy for mental health.
