Presents "Puss in Boots" Children's Play
October 22-23 & 29-30

(Honolulu, Hawaii) A charming, clever cat befriends a King, defeats an Ogre, plays matchmaker, transforms his master into the rich and famous Marquis of Carabas, and makes Feline History as the "Smartest Cat That Ever Lived." Kaimuki High School Performing Arts Center's presents its fall children's show - Puss in Boots! The 12+ person cast from Kaimuki High School Performing Arts Center (KHSPAC) will perform the play at the school auditorium.

Targeted for younger audiences, but fun for all ages, Puss in Boots will be performed on Saturday, October 22 at 7 p.m., with 3 p.m. matinees on October 23, 29 & 30. Kids under three are free, ages 3 to 5 are $3, and students, military and seniors with I.D. are $5. Adult tickets are $10. Box office opens thirty-minutes before each performance for ticket sales.

"Children and adults alike will instantly recognize and relate to these archetypal characters. I think this play is a prime way to help children understand that literature -- a good story -- can be told in various formats. Especially since Dreamworks is releasing their version of ‘Puss in Boots' later this year." said director Rikki Jo Hickey.

Peggy Anne Siegmund and Dennis Proulx collaborated and created the script for an advanced acting class in the Kaimuki High School Performing Arts Center. Incidental music was composed by Roslyn.

The October 29 performance will be preceded by Kaimuki High School's Third Annual Halloween Keiki Fun Fair, featuring games, crafts, food and activities from 10 - 3 p.m. It's a safe and fun way to celebrate Halloween, so come in costume! Purchase $10 worth of scrip and receive a free child's ticket to the play.

Kaimuki High School is located at 2705 Kaimuki Ave., between Kapahulu Ave. and Kapiolani Blvd.

ABOUT KHSPAC
Kaimuki High School Performing Arts Center offers classes in acting, music, dance and technical theater at no cost to public school students all over Oahu. The program's mission is based on the belief that performing arts develop important life skills including discipline, teamwork, creativity, self-awareness, confidence, focus and appreciation of the performing arts. Under the direction of M.J. Matsushita, the program and its musical and dramatic productions involve about 160 students who present three major productions per school year. KHSPAC is one of three Department of Education learning centers for performing arts on Oahu.
