St. Paddy’s Day – It’s Corned Beef & Blarney
The Kahala Serves Up 3-Course Irish Meal & Music March 17

It may be just a wee bit too far to travel to Ireland to kiss the Blarney Stone, but you can still eat like an Irishman on St. Paddy’s Day, Sunday, March 17, 2013, at The Kahala Hotel & Resort’s newly remodeled Veranda lounge from 2 until 10 p.m. You’ll be finding Irish favorites on the menu—and it won’t cost you a pot of gold—at all three dining areas: Hoku’s, Plumeria Beach House, and The Veranda. Reservations for lunch or dinner may be made by calling (808) 739-8760 or e-mailing restaurants@kahalaresort.com. It’s the best deal in town on the day of the Irish, and that’s no blarney!  Be sure to try the Irish craft beers, too! And enjoy the music of the Jacqueline Moore and Friends from 7 until 10 p.m. on March 17, 2013.

Chef Wayne Hirabayashi’s three-course Irish menu priced at $35 per person (plus tax and gratuity) includes his own version of corned beef and cabbage made with and island flair. First he brines the beef brisket for four days and then slowly braises it for 4-6 hours until it is fork-tender. The plate is then finished with homegrown Kunia Farms cabbage, heirloom carrots, and  baby Yukon gold potatoes served with The Kahala’s special three-mustard blend.  The three-course Irish feast begins with an Irish-style seasonal garden salad that includes pickled beets, cucumber, tomatoes, celery, Bibb lettuce, shredded cabbage, hard boiled eggs and blue cheese topped with a delicious Dijon tarragon vinaigrette. For dessert, enjoy Bailey’s ice cream. This menu will also be available in Plumeria Beach House from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Music by the Jacquelyn Moore and Friends will get your toes a-tapping from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. on St. Paddy’s Day. Enjoy Guinness and other Irish craft beers at special prices.  Or try out The Veranda’s brand new menu items. The new globally-inspired menu has everything from grilled flatbreads to harissa-spiced chicken, and grilled prime flatiron steak. And a robust selection of trendy new cocktails created by a certified mixologist is among the new menu items on this eclectic collection of global cuisine.

B’gosh and begorrah, the Egyptians may have invented beer, but we all know the Irish perfected it. Enjoy a glass of hearty Guinness with your corned beef plate. And don’t forget to toast the luck of the Irish. If you are lucky enough to dine at The Kahala on St. Paddy’s Day...you are lucky enough!

The Irish specials will be served all day, from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2013. So come early or stay late, and enjoy the comfy new Tommy Bahama Royal Kahala furnishings inside, or on the beautiful lanai overlooking the ocean and dolphin lagoons.

At Hoku’s, try a special four-course meal that include an amuse bouche of Irish brown bread with smoked salmon followed by a first course of Lehua honey-glazed bacon with Colcannon butter sauce. The second course features mussels steamed with cider and ham and served with crème fraiche and fresh herbs. Next, you’ll dine on Chef Hirabayashi’s corned beef and cabbage with baby Yukon Gold potatoes and heirloom carrots. For dessert, enjoy Bailey’s ice cream sundae. Hoku’s St. Paddy’s Day meal is served from 5:30 until 10 p.m. and is priced at $55 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Irish craft beer selections will be available at an additional cost.

Pin on your shamrock and come to The Kahala on March 17 where you can be “Irish” for a day, enjoy a hearty Irish fare fit for St. Patrick, and dance an Irish jig or two. Reservations at (808) 739-8760 or e-mail restaurants@kahalaresort.com.
