Ron Artis II Returns to the Piano and Songs of His Youth in Atherton Studio, December 17

North Shore musician/singer-songwriter Ron Artis II returns to HPR's Atherton Studio on Saturday, December 17 at 7:30 p.m. for a concert of original music featuring the Atherton's crown jewel, the magnificent Bosendorfer grand piano.

Artis said, "I started on the piano, and I'm ready to return for a concert." Along with special guests, he will be performing a program of songs inspired by his childhood and the subsequent years.

Reservations for this evening with Ron Artis and friends may be made online at www.hprtickets.org or by calling the station (955-8821) during regular business hours. Tickets are $30 general, $25 for HPR members, and $15 for students with ID; service fees are applied to online orders. The Atherton Studio is located at Hawaiʻi Public Radio, 738 Kāheka Street. Doors open a half hour before the performance. Advance ticket purchase strongly encouraged as the house is frequently sold out before the performance date.

About the artist

Ron Artis II is best known for his passionate vocal and guitar work around Hawaiʻi with his two groups, the duo Ron Artis II and Thunderstorm and the soulful band The Truth. Named after his father, Ron Artis, he is the eldest son in a family of 11 children. Ron Artis II has enjoyed music since before he could walk, crawling across his father's piano at the age of one. He believes that "Music is meant to be lived, as life is meant to be lived" and has been known to create new songs on the spot in his concerts.

About HPR's Atherton Performing Arts Studio

The Atherton Studio seats 75 people and is home to a magnificent Bösendorfer concert grand piano. The Studio is available for rent for musical performances, community group meetings, and lectures. It is located in the HPR office and studio complex at 738 Kaheka Street, across from the Honolulu Don Quijote. Metered street parking is available, as are paid lots at the First Hawaiian Bank (Kapi‘olani branch) and in the Pan Am building.
