  • Celebrate Kaimuki Kanikapila Gets Residents ‘in the Spirit' Halloween Weekend

The Kaimuki Business and Professional Association (KBPA) and KBPA Foundation are partnering with Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, Inc. to put a little glamour or gruesomeness into the Celebrate Kaimuki Kanikapila Fifth Annual Craft Fare and Street Festival.

The event takes place Halloween Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Waialae Avenue (between Koko Head and 11th Avenues) and Kaimuki Community Park.

Residents are invited to don their costumes early for the daytime event, which will also feature some of the most popular costumes created for Goodwill's "GLAM! and Ghouls Costume Contest" running from Oct. 1 to 30. (As part of the contest, original costumes using at least one item purchased at a Goodwill Hawaii store have an opportunity to earn a year of free shopping at Goodwill. Individuals may enter by uploading photos of their creations to Goodwill Hawaii's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/GoodwillHawaii. Entrants with the most popular costumes will be invited to showcase their creativity at the Celebrate Kaimuki Kanikapila.)

Festival-goers will also enjoy all the great features and attractions that have made previous Celebrate Kaimuki Kanikapila events successes: handmade arts and crafts, local favorite food, live entertainment, prize drawings and the opportunity to explore the unique shops and restaurants of Kaimuki.

Limited free parking will be available at the Queen Liliuokalani School and Kaimuki Christian School. Paid parking will be available in the Kaimuki municipal lots (entrances are on Harding and 12th Avenues) and AMPCO lot (behind 3660 Wilhelmina Rise), in addition to metered street parking.

Celebrate Kaimuki Kanikapila is organized by the Kaimuki Business and Professional Association (KBPA) and the KBPA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, with valuable support from the Hawaii Tourism Authority and City and County of Honolulu Mayor's Office of Economic Development.
