Curiously Cute Kid’s Boutique Opens at The Kahala
L’il Nell’s to Carry Beachwear, Playthings, and Togs for Tikes

Looking for the latest in upscale children’s beachwear, resort attire, and fashion forward play togs? L’il Nell’s Clothing for the Curious Kid opens December 5, 2012, at The Kahala Hotel & Resort in Honolulu, Hawaii. Retail Manager Melissa Rocha who also manages The Kahala Boutique, has been named Manger of L’il Nell’s.

“We are delighted to be bringing a hip, couture clothing store for kids to the Kahala neighborhood with leading international brands of toys and clothing,” says The Kahala General Manager Roseann Grippo. “The store adds a new dimension for our guests and residents in a niche that is not well represented.”

Resort Buyer Barbara Cipro and Retail Manager Melissa Rocha will be stocking the new boutique with swim wear, play time playthings, and quality souvenirs and beach toys for kids. Child appropriate, beach-inspired jewelry will also be available.

Cipro is no stranger to managing and merchandising for boutiques. She has been in the retail business since she was 16 years old. Her experience includes working in popular chain stores, assisting in independent clothing stores like Tiger Lily Boutique, and owning her own store, Water Lily Boutique, for five years. She began her retail merchandising with Landmark Hotels Group when the hotel company operated the then Kea Lani Resort in Wailea.

“Over the years, I’ve worked with several influential mentors who taught me a lot about merchandising and helped me to develop a fashion forward sense of style and marketing unique clothing items in a resort setting,” says Cipro.

Cipro often works with local designers so that her collection inventories reflect unique and one-of-a-kind collectibles and clothing items. She’s a great believer in classic, timeless pieces that become closet staples and stand the test of time. Her sense of good taste has made her boutiques for grown-ups, such as Nellie’s, especially popular. You won’t find those gaudy, flower prints in electric colors that clash with your wardrobe and are un-wearable once you get them home. Instead think of quality clothing that reflects Hawaii’s island sensibilities, but also transplants to other regions well. “We want our shoppers to take a little bit of Hawaii home with them and will feel comfortable wearing these pieces over and over again,” she says.  “Kids love to be fashionable and trendy, and our collections will reflect this, but with ample good taste and quality among the clothing’s best features.”

Among the name brands she will be featuring are Native Shoes for kids, Coradorables, Juicy Couture Baby, Jannuzzi, Civil Society, Flap Happy, Kissy Kissy, Neptune Zoo, Makena Surfwear, Snapper Rock, Hula Star, Island Heritage, Iplay, Zutano, Cabana Life, Hurley, Diesel, and Roxy, just to name a few. Other brands include Little Handprint, Love You Lots, Lollipop Twirl, Mulberry Bush, Lollybean, and Lady Bim.

Manager and new mom Melissa Rocha is excited to add this new dimension to The Kahala’s retailing efforts. “Having entered the parenthood domain, I have a new eye towards bringing trendy, but practical clothing and play things for our guests and residents. It’s difficult to find summer clothing on the Mainland in mid-winter, so many guests will appreciate the opportunity to pick up a few warm-weather appropriate beach togs while on their winter vacations.”

L’il Nell’s will be open daily from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. The children’s boutique is located just off the grand main lobby and front desk area, across from The Kahala’s famous Celebrity Wall, and adjacent to the hotel’s Conference and Catering Offices. The store will also offer shipping services. For more information, call (808) 739-8709.
