Participants will learn the art of shippoyaki, or Japanese enameling, in this two-hour workshop presented by the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i (JCCH). Led by award-winning enamel and cloisonné artist, Kazuko Inomata, students will learn how to make their own one-of-a-kind ornamental pieces--such as earrings, pendants and brooches--in which various colors of enamel are used to produce unique designs on a base of metal or ceramic object. Inomata, who is from Osaka, Japan, is an award-winning member of the Japan Cloisonné Artists Association and has taught the art form for more than 30 years.



Cost/Entry Fee: $20 for JCCH members ($15 for class, $5 for materials); $25 for non-members ($20 for class, $5 for materials). To register, contact the JCCH at (808) 945-7633, ext. 33
