The award-winning University of Hawai'i KIDS FIRST! Film Festival returns with Three summer Sundays of free family films. KIDS FIRST!, a project of the Coalition for Quality Children's Media, is the largest traveling children's film festival in the world. Curated locally by UH Manoa's Outreach College, KIDS FIRST! films are free of gratuitous violence; race, gender, or religious bias; inappropriate content; and condescension towards children. Age-appropriate groupings of films entertain through a balance of animation and live action, plus varied themes from different cultures. To add to the festivities, door prizes are awarded at all screenings.

Philadelphia Chickens (U.S.)

Cartoonist Sandra Boynton's wild and woolly (or, rather, feathery) music video of two pigs from Connecticut who travel down Interstate 95 to watch the renowned chickens of Philadelphia swing-dancing. The original singers of the track, Kevin and Michael Bacon, make spiffy cameo appearances, including some fine glimpses of Kevin Bacon dancing beside some serious chickens.

One Shoe Blues (U.S.)

The great B. B. King stars, sings and plays guitar in this wry and elegant music video, along with some enthusiastic intrusions by uninvited sock puppets. Author and cartoonist Sandra Boynton's first venture into film-directing. For all ages, except 43. Winner, Rhode Island International Film Festival.

Beans! (Canada)

Winner, Eugene International Film Festival. The whimsical adventures of one kid and a fistful of candy.

Slap Back Jack: High-Five Master (U.S.)

Stop motion short, narrated in rhyme, tells the tale of how The Bronx Buffalo's superstar ballplayer, Bub Stocky, hits a grand slam home run, tries to celebrate with teammates, but flubs his high-five combos. That's when he visits a legendary high-five specialist. Winner, All Sports Los Angeles Film Festival.

Murphey's Shorts (U.S.)

An animated short – about shorts – pokes fun at a boy who is very impressed with himself. Winner, Wildwood and Reno Film Festivals.

Paperboy (U.S.)

Winner, Best Film, International Youth Film Festival. Two families' lives intersect through their 10-year-old children. Lola is a special girl on the paper route of a paperboy named Paco. The children exchange letters, which they leave for each other in Lola's mailbox. They try to meet in person for the first time, but things get complicated.

Un Duelo (A Duel) (Mexico)

Two hummingbirds engage in a senseless but sometimes funny battle.

Number One (Germany)

Winner, Chicago International Children's Film Festival. Florian has always been "number one" at school, but Daniel, the new kid, has the one thing he does not – a loving family. Even worse, he has beaten Florian in the one thing he has never lost – running. In German with English subtitles, but understandable even without subtitles.

My Pantanal (Brazil)

Aerenilso lives on a ranch in the Pantanal, the world's largest wetland in Brazil. He shows us what it's like to be a cowboy, riding his horse, doing his chores and exploring and protecting a landscape that is full of wildlife, including the jaguar. Winner, Wild Talk Africa Film Festival and International Wildlife Film Festivals.

Lunch (Israel)

Vlad wants to eat his lunch in quiet but someone drops a small cat near his door and that disturbs his peace.

After Hours (Canada)

Based on a true story about an overworked animator who is haunted by one of his characters. The film is a horror-comedy love story with elephants, and a playful look into the (exhausting) creative process.
