DIAMOND HEAD THEATRE PRESENTS

"SHOWBOAT"

Show runs March 28, 2014 - April 4th, 2014

The stars come out for DHT's Show Boat! Diamond Head Theatre is proud to present a simply stellar cast for its upcoming production of Show Boat. We have secured the very talented opera singer Lea Woods Almanza to play "Magnolia Hawks"--plus direct from Honolulu's run of Disney's The Lion King, John Sloan III who will be playing the unforgettable "Joe" and performing the classic "Ol' Man River"! The show also features Anthony Feliciano as "Gaylord Ravenal" joined by Fedrico Biven as "Captain Andy Hawks," Lisa Konove as "Parthy Ann Hawks," Tricia Marciel as "Julie LaVerne," and Alison L.B. Maldonado as "Queenie."

The story moves from 1890s Mississippi to Chicago; traveling into the Roaring ‘20's Broadway and follows the lives of a company of theater folk -- deeply involving us in their triumphs and sorrows, while illuminating the racial and social changes that were shaping the country. There are the beloved characters: Julie, Joe, Queenie … and especially Magnolia and Ravenal. She's an aspiring young actress; he's an irresistible, gambling cad who leaves her when his luck runs out. But Magnolia moves on with her life -- eventually becoming a major star.

Unforgettable songs include "Make Believe," "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man" and "Ol' Man River." With dazzling choreography and an epic story that moves us with its humanity, Show Boat promises to be both great entertainment and great art.

Directed and choreographed by John Rampage.
