Oahu Libraries Host December 2016 Events

Oahu public libraries will host the following free events in December; click-on the links for more information:

· December 14 -- 3 p.m. -- 6 p.m., crAfternoon: An Afternoon of Crafting Fun at Waianae Public Library (697-7868). Children and families can make holiday-themed crafts including: Gingerbread Ornaments, Festive Cards, Knitted Yarn Bracelets, and more. http://www.librarieshawaii.org/event/crafternoon/

· December 14, 6:30 p.m. -- Paradise Brass Concert at Waianae Public Library (697-7868). Paradise Brass, the 25th Infantry Division Band Brass Quintet, will perform in celebration of Waianae Public Library's 50th Anniversary. · December 17 -- 10:30 a.m. -- Holiday Read-Aloud at Kapolei Public Library (693-7050). Join students from the University of Hawaii at West Oahu's Student National Education Association for a special Holiday Read-Aloud. · December 17, 1 p.m. -- A Carols Concert at Kapolei Public Library (693-7050). Celebrate the holiday season with Karol's Karolers who will perform Christmas Classics as well as Christmas songs from around the world. http://www.librarieshawaii.org/event/a-carols-concert-featuring-karols-karolers/

· December 17, 2 p.m. -- Harmonica Recital at Aina Haina Public Library (377-2456). Listen to Danilo Marrone perform songs on the harmonica, an instrument that is heard in all genres of music. · December 20, 5:30 p.m. -- Machine Sewing: Patchwork Bear at Kahuku Public & School Library (293-8935). Calling all sewers! Bring your own cute scraps of material or use the library's material to create a patchwork Teddy Bear. · December 21, 2 p.m. -- Meet Author Sonia Patel at Aina Haina Public Library (377-2456). Hear debut author Sonia Patel preview her new young adult novel Rani Patel in Full Effect. The author, a teen psychologist, draws on her experience as a first-generation Indian immigrant experiencing the Hawaiian culture.

· December 29, 10 a.m. -- Adult Tech Classes: Email Basics II at Kahuku Public & School Library (293-8935). This follow-up class to the Dec. 8 course (Email Basics I) will discuss the homework assignment and include a Q&A and group discussion to resolve any issues. New students are welcome; reservations are recommended.

ABOUT KAIMUKI PUBLIC LIBRARY
The mission of the Hawaii State Public Library System is to provide Hawaii's residents, in all walks of life, and at each stage of their lives, with access to education, information, programs and services, and to teach and nurture the love of reading and the habit of life-long learning.

Library Cards
You may apply for a library card at any Hawaii public library. The initial card is FREE for Hawaii residents. Cards are also free for military personnel and their dependents with a copy of orders. The resident card replacement fee is $5.00. Resident library cards must be renewed every five years. There is no charge for the renewal.
