SAINT LOUIS SCHOOL LAUNCHES CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Saint Louis School announces its "Crusade for Opportunity" a capital campaign to raise $45.21 million for the school's campus redevelopment initiatives. Initiated in 2010, campaign projects include both the construction of new facilities and the renovation of existing campus buildings. Over $17 million in donations have already been secured by the school.

Newly appointed Saint Louis School, Chairman, Board of Trustees and alumnus Anthony Guerrero, Jr. '63 leads the campaign as its Chair and alumnus Walter Dods, Jr. '59 serves as the Honorary Chair. Mr. Guerrero has recruited a stellar group of alumni and friends of Saint Louis School to serve on the campaign committee.

Saint Louis School President Walter Kirimitsu ‘58 stated, "We have been pleased by the show of support by our alumni and school family. We are confident that with the leadership of Tony Guerrero and Walter Dods we will be successful in our ambitious efforts to make Saint Louis School an excellent institution of learning for our students."

Campus redevelopment initiatives include: the construction of the Clarence T. C. Ching Learning and Technology Center (projected completion in Spring 2011); renovations and improvements to several existing buildings; campus-wide technology upgrades and the construction of the new Events Center. All projects will be completed in the next 5-8 years.

Tony Guerrero said, "We named this capital campaign the "Crusade for Opportunity" because with its success Saint Louis School will continue to provide opportunities for young men to excel and become our future leaders."

In 1846, King Kamehameha III granted the Catholic Mission land in Windward Oahu to start an all-boys school. By the 1880s the College of Saint Louis was relocated to Honolulu and placed under the direction of the Society of Marianists. Renowned for its academic excellence, Saint Louis College was praised by the Royal Board of Education for "training the best scholars in the Kingdom."

Since that time, Saint Louis School has educated over 15,000 young men who have served as many of Hawaii's leaders. Accredited by the Western Catholic Education Association, the school's current enrollment is over 600 students in grades 6-12 with the student body representing nearly every zip code on Oahu comprising diverse ethnicities and faiths.
